At our monthly meeting on July 3rd, The Goshen Garden Club was pleased to
present its 2008 Scholarship of $1,000 to Emily Starr. Emily lives in
Torrington and graduated from Wamogo Regional High School in June with a
3.3 GPA. She is a member of The National Honor Society and The National
Art Honor Society. Emily has been active with the FFA and the Senior High
Youth Group. She has been involved with the Big E Floral Competition, a
Public Speaking Competition and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" school play.
She has received the CAS Artist and Gold Award. Emily has competed in
state floral competitions and The Floral Expo. She helped design and create
Wamogo's first annual Prom Fashion Show.
Emily will be attending Northwestern Connecticut Community College in the
Fall, majoring in Business Management. She would some day like to own her
own retail floral business
